Top Highlights of Kalajun Grassland

Kalajun is famous for its “three-dimensional” landscape, where rolling hills, deep canyons, and snowy mountains create a layered masterpiece. While the scenic area is divided into the Grassland (East) and Canyon (West) sections, most visitors focus on the stunning East Kalajun heights.

1. Xianhuatai (Wildflower Terrace)
This is the ultimate spot for flower lovers. Imagine a sea of wildflowers stretching toward towering snow-capped peaks—it looks exactly like a scene from a Studio Ghibli movie. Don’t miss the giant swing at the highest point for that perfect social media photo.

2. Lieyingtai (Falconry Platform)
Traditionally a training ground for Kazakh eagle hunters, this spot offers a panoramic view where the grassland rolls like green waves toward the horizon.

  • Surprise Tip: The state-run dining area here is surprisingly affordable and delicious. If you’re lucky, you might even catch a traditional dance performance while you eat!

3. The Trail Between Xianhuatai and Lieyingtai
You can shuttle, ride a horse, or hike between these two points. If you have the energy, hiking is highly recommended. Walking through the boundless greenery is incredibly therapeutic. The park even provides free chairs along the way—perfect for a rest and a scenic photo op.

4. Wusun Summer Capital
Located in West Kalajun, this area features ethnic yurts and unique “Starry Sky” rooms. Keep your eyes peeled near the rock piles here; you’ll likely see adorable marmots standing on their hind legs keeping watch!
